What life event or moment affected your life the most?

It is the various hardships, crises, challenges and complexity of my personal or social reality that have affected me the most.

Feeling pain, fear and sadness is crucial to understanding oneself, understanding life and figuring out the place and the role you want to take in this world.

It was for these reasons that I was drawn to research classic Japanese aesthetics and Zen Buddhism.

My research helped me articulate the feelings that would rise in me when encountering the world, and handed me the language and tools to see and understand them more clearly.

It also showed me the way to relieve myself of fear, pain and sadness – by remaining with these feelings, facing and observing them, peacefully and quietly, until they no longer made any sense or had any effect on me – until they were gone.

It was only after this personal process, that I truly knew and understood, just how much I wanted to help others with dissolving their own fear and pain.
